
Murray, Bruce
Bruce is Professor Emeritus of Planetary Science and Geology at Caltech. He was involved with the Mariner missions to Mercury, Venus and Mars in the 1960s and early 1970s, and was director of the NASA/Caltech Jet Propulsion Laboratory (1976-1982) during the time of the Viking landings on Mars and the Voyager flybys of Saturn and Jupiter. He was cofounder (along with the late Carl Sagan) of The Planetary Society, a large international public participation organization dedicated to exploring the solar system and the search for extra-terrestrial intelligence (SETI). Bruce has a long-standing interest in structured ways to analyze potential future outcomes of alternative societal and natural circumstances, beginning with his book \"Navigating The Future.\" He was a consultant to the \"2050 Project\", a collaboration between WRI, The Brookings Institution, and the Santa Fe Institute.
