Tipler, Frank

Frank is Professor of Mathematics at Tulane University, where he focuses on cosmology, particularly the fate of the universe. His books have stimulated much controversy. The Anthropic Principle, which reviews the intellectual history of teleology and investigates the fine tuning of the universe and its implications, is considered a classic in introducing a radically new way to view the universe. His other books have been subject to substantial criticism: The Physics of Immortality, which presents a wildly speculative theory about the ultimate state of the universe (the so-called Omega Point when the unimaginable energy generated by a collapsing universe will enable all possibilities, including resurrection of everyone ever; however fleeting in real time, it will supposedly seem like forever); and The Physics of Christianity, which offers a radically unorthodox view of the biblical religion (identifying the Judeo-Christian God as being the Omega Point) .
