Dick, Steven
Steven is NASA’s Chief Historian; he has written extensively on astrobiology, extraterrestrial life and intelligence, the limits of science, and the need for a new “cosmo-theology,” which he contends should replace traditional religion. Steven worked as an astronomer and historian of science at the U. S. Naval Observatory in Washington, D.C. for 24 years before coming to NASA Headquarters in 2003. Among his books are Plurality of Worlds: The Origins of the Extraterrestrial Life Debate from Democritus to Kant; The Biological Universe: The Twentieth Century Extraterrestrial Life Debate and the Limits of Science; Life on Other Worlds; and (with James Strick) The Living Universe: NASA and the Development of Astrobiology.
