Closer To Truth – CTT Digital Editorial Director

Job Description Overview: 

The CTT Digital Editorial Director creates, develops and reversions CTT content for new media and multimedia channels.  He or she leads and directs CTT’s presence across the web, new media, and social networks – particularly with respect to CTT content. The ideal candidate is an experienced creator / developer of multimedia content for new media; articulate writer and editor (desirably of high content); passionate about science, philosophy, and religion; skilled at communicating with global audiences via multiple media platforms; and able to develop and manage web partners. With passion and entrepreneurship, he or she works with CTT’s team of creative professionals and expert contributors in leveraging CTT’s approaches and aesthetics in expanding the CTT brand.

Closer To Truth (CTT) is a not-for-profit content-driven media enterprise that deals intelligently with fundamental questions—cosmos, consciousness, God—treating the topics with sophistication and subtlety. A global journey, CTT is the world’s definitive digitized web-based filmed archive and television series of cosmology/physics, brain/mind and philosophy/theology, providing intimate, candid conversations with leading scientists, philosophers, theologians, scholars, and creative thinkers. SKILLS of the CTT Digital Editorial Director 

Expert in rapidly evolving use of video, graphics and content on multiple new media platforms and channels, and in reversioning CTT for optimum new media impact.

Familiar with ways of optimizing and publishing CTT content for different media, channels, delivery systems, online video, mobile devices, podcasts, publishing.

Knowledgeable of latest tools and technologies related to interactivity and building online communities, online experiments and success factors/stories in relevant genres.

Savvy at building communities, leveraging CTT content and resources.

Good strategic sense and negotiating skills, such as when working with potential partners and distributors, particularly leading online channels and websites.

Knowledgeable of and fascinated by CTT content (cosmos, consciousness, God) -- and the fields of cosmology / physics, philosophy / philosophy of religion / theology, and neuroscience / psychology. 

Sufficiently sophisticated in understanding CTT content (cosmos, consciousness, God) to appreciate different characteristics of communities interested in cosmos, consciousness, God; and to work with CTT’s well-known expert contributors, engaging them to participate on the CTT website, and facilitating such participation.

Familiar with relevant online destinations—science/philosophy/religion websites, blogs, social media, podcasts.

Excellent writing skills for updating blogs and posting current information, particularly on cosmos, consciousness, God.

Comfortable handling multiple projects simultaneously and good organizational skills to keep track of many activity threads (e.g., continuous demand for content).

Highly motivated, with entrepreneurial instincts, to build the CTT brand.

 

TASKS of the CTT Digital Editorial Director

Provides leadership, strategy, and editorial direction for CTT website and all CTT new media content.

Creates, builds, tests and maintains web-optimized CTT content with CTT videos and proprietary products, and from CTT contributors and other sources.

Develops content for educational markets - a prime opportunity for CTT - leading CTT in working with world-class partner(s); also for scientific, religious and other specialized markets (such as senior citizens), leading CTT in working with world-class partner(s).

Takes the lead (or, based on experience, helps) in coordinating CTT web redesign and rebuild with external vendors.

Generates daily blogs and posts current information, leveraging CTT’s well-known contributors and growing communities; writes Tweets, blogs, updates, etc. regularly.

Scans news feeds for relevant articles, blog posts, media to post. 

Leads in interacting regularly with CTT’s expert contributors, engaging them to participate on the CTT website and facilitating such participation.

Creates, tests, monitors, analyzes, evaluates new CTT content—online learning, webinars, salons, apps, etc., working with CTT contributors and business partners.

Develops CTT business / revenue generation opportunities for different media, channels, delivery systems, online video, mobile devices, podcasts, publishers, etc.

Plans strategies for, and negotiates with, potential partners and distributors, particularly leading online channels and websites.

Participates in sourcing and structuring new business opportunities, such as online video, DVD sales, digital advertising, corporate sponsorship and PBS underwriting.

Develops and orchestrates social media campaigns.

Brand ambassador: engages well with all CTT constituencies / potential partners.

Uses entrepreneurial instincts to build the CTT brand.

Expert in strategies and tactics for building online and digital media communities, desirably (but not essentially) around high-concept topics

Expert in the channels of new media content—forums, blogs, podcasts, social networks, Twitter, etc., including video (YouTube, Hulu, etc.) and download models.

Highly knowledgeable of latest digital marketing technologies and tools related to interactivity, social media outreach, blogs, and building brand loyalty and engagement.

Highly familiar with website UX and digital media project management operations; SEM and SEO; new media metrics (statistically valid surveys); successful web businesses.

Strong webmaster capabilities: able to operate the website independently as well as to interface with external experts. 

Skilled working with potential partners and distributors, particularly leading online channels and websites.

Familiar with marketing to educational, scientific, religious markets, and other specialized markets, working with content partners / publishers / broadcasters.

Comfortable handling multiple projects simultaneously and good organizational skills to keep track of many activity threads (e.g., continuous demand for content).

Good writing skills to communicate clearly and concisely; writing daily blogs.

Knowledgeable of, and appreciates (fascinated by), CTT content of cosmos, consciousness, God; capable of working with leaders in these fields.

Highly motivated, with entrepreneurial instincts, to build the CTT brand.

 

TASKS of the CTT Digital Marketing Director

Primary responsibility for creating, building, monitoring, and servicing CTT online communities and community members, stressing interactivity and engagement.

Develops CTT communities in educational markets (major); also scientific, religious, and other specialized markets (e.g., senior citizens), working with partners / publishers.

Takes the lead (or, based on experience, helps) in coordinating CTT web redesign and rebuild with external vendors.

Functions as CTT webmaster, with full responsibilities for web maintenance, repairs, upgrades; interfaces with internal personnel and external advisors.

Manages technical issues of online registered users, partners, vendors and customers.

Leads and/or supports CTT marketing strategies and implements programs / projects.

Writes and checks Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Retweets, blogs, updates, etc. 

Plans / maintains digital/web, social media, PR campaigns (new and traditional media).

Tests and evaluates CTT new media programs / projects—research, analytics, community building and digital trends; provides analysis, reports, suggestions.

Responsible for new media metrics, including statistically valid surveys.

Prepares analysis and reports for community building and marketing to build educational, religious and other markets, and to develop new business opportunities.

Coordinates, monitors and reports CTT business with online video channels (YouTube, Hulu, etc.) and download video distributors.

Interacts with CTT’s expert contributors, engaging them to participate on the CTT website and marketing such participation.

Participates in CTT business / revenue generation for different media, channels, delivery systems, online video, mobile devices, podcasts, publishers; in sourcing, arranging, structuring deals, such as online video, DVD sales, ads, corporate sponsors.

Brand ambassador: engages well with all CTT constituencies / potential partners.

Uses entrepreneurial instincts to build the CTT brand.
